I Will Not Be Duped Again!

OK, I’ve been punked by Sandler and Rogen for the very last time. I’ve already given up on Ben Stiller, the purveyor of excrement (literally) humor, and swore to never see another of his flicks, and now it is time for me to place Sandler and Rogen in a permanent “time out”.

Their latest lame attempt at humor, “Funny People” is not very funny. Oh yeah, sure, there are some funny bits in it, but it would have been much better if they had gone totally slapstick on us instead of imitating “serious” actors trying to play comedians. On top of that the humor they DID try to pass off on us was of the “in your face” profanity laced sex jokes that, honestly, stopped being funny in 10th grade.

What is it with these guys anyhow? Does writer Judd Apatow think that the rest of the film going public are just as profane and venal as he apparently is? I mean, why ELSE would he always fall on this type of stuff and call it humor?

So OK, I get it! Judd and his buds sit in a room and write to make each OTHER laugh, THEN they say to themselves, “WOW! Dude, like THAT was so funny!” Sorry guys, it’s NOT! In fact, audiences are discovering just that too! It’s not that I’m just some old fossil that has lost touch with the real world.

And what is with the length of this film…two and a half freakin’ HOURS? Did they seriously forget to turn it over to the editors, or did they think they were doing a remake of “The Ten Commandments”? If it were properly done this film should have run at 90 to 100 minutes and given our “rhoids” a break!

This is truly a shame because Sandler CAN be funny and Rogen really CAN act, but this movie reeks of “the boys” coming up with a skit and then beating the life clear out of it. Adam should stick to making second rate films that are mildly funny and Rogen should get another agent before his career gets pidgeonholed into roles that he will soon be too old for.
